During his tenure at Howard Park, Senior Winemaker Mark Bailey has seen a few changing of the guards, him work alongside notable winemakers such as Janice McDonald, through some iconic and unforgettable vintages, and has worked on wines across the entire range including Jeté, Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvingnon, and Allingham Chardonnay.
A second-generation vigneron and son of Jeff and Amy Burch, Richard’s career has spanned multiple departments from working vintages, time spent in the Cellar Door, as a brand ambassador and now, Sales Director where his work sees him initiating sales channels both nationally and internationally.
With an eye for aesthetics and a strong, enduring connection to her Singaporean roots, owner Amy Burch is an enigmatic figure at Howard Park and it was with great delight we got to spend time with her in the very buildings she helped to design.
Before the wine is made, the grapes are grown. We took a moment to chat with our Chief Viticulturalist Dave Botting to learn about his personal philosophy and delicate approach to growing grapes. the importance of long term sustainability, and the time that goes into producing the best fruit possible.
