After 10 brilliant years as Chief Winemaker and then Director of Winemaking, Janice McDonald will be moving on from Howard Park Wines this year.

Since 2011, Janice has been at the forefront of innovation and progress at the winery, with an unwavering focus and drive to produce exemplary wines that honoured and celebrated both Margaret River and the Great Southern.

During her tenure Janice’s immense winemaking expertise garnered both domestic and international acclaim – from being instrumental to the creation of Jeté sparkling collection and the subsequent trophy for Best Australian Sparkling at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships, to the continuation of the Abercrombie’s excellence and notoriety, and the introduction of Allingham Chardonnay to the Icon portfolio, a passion of Janice’s which saw her wanting to create a Margaret River Chardonnay that could stand next to the Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon.

And of course we cannot forget to mention what a joy it was to celebrate her industry success when she was crowned Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller Wine in 2018. A high honour she so rightly deserves and of which they wrote “we, the consumers, are the lucky recipients of her talent, tenacity, and intellect. Every bottle she makes is a delicious celebration of the joy of wine”.

We offer our sincere thanks to Janice for her phenomenal tenure at Howard Park and wish her all the best on her future winemaking endeavours.
