2026 marks 40 years since the first edition of Halliday’s Wine Companion. The book has accompanied the highs and lows of the wine industry for the last four decades and is one of the most highly anticipated wine publications in Australia.
We had double the reason to celebrate with this year’s release. Firstly it was an honour to be named in the top 10 “Best Winery Experience” in this years People’s Choice Award. Competition was fierce this year with over 10,000 votes were cast so it was incredible to be included. We were in great company – our fellow Australia’s First Families of Wine members Bests Wines also made it into the top 10, as well as Brown Brothers who achieved the prestigious number one position!
Secondly we were thrilled to receive another great set of reviews including the yet to be released Icon Wines:
2024 Howard Park Allingham Chardonnay – 96 Points
“A warmer vintage yet this comes across as cool, cooling and refined; still plenty of flavour though. Lemon and white peach, nougat studded with grilled nuts. Creamy, with a touch of honeycomb. The oak imparts flavour, for sure, but it is neatly integrated. The acidity is refreshing and drives this to a long finish, with just the right amount of phenolics to add more shape and depth. Very classy drink here, folks.” – Jane Faulkner
2023 Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon – 95 Points
“Select parcels of fruit off the Leston vineyard with batches kept separate; aged 18 months in French barriques, 30% new, before a selection is blended to make up Abercrombie. Ideally, you’d pop this away for a year or so to shake off the rawness of youth and build complexity. Foundations are good though: cedary oak infusing the mulberries and cassis, fruit compote doused in woodsy spices, with some cooling menthol, too. Fuller bodied, with persuasive tannins and refreshing acidity. To see it at its best today, match to hearty fare. ” – Jane Faulkner
2023 Howard Park A.S.W Cabernet Shiraz – 95 Points
“The lovely ’23 season has not been dampened by overt oak flavour as pristine fruit comes out, delicately spiced, with plenty of savoury inputs in nori, tapenade and ironstone. For such a youthful red, this is vibrant but also composed, the tannins exceptional. The length lingers and, while tempting to drink this now, more time in bottle will add more complexity.” – Jane Faulkner
