2011 Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc

  • 2011 Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc 11HSBS

    Wine Overview

The Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc is the newest edition to the Howard Park family. This 100% varietal is crafted from pristine “free-run” fuice with winemaking focused on preserving the delicate fruit flavours of this aromatic variety.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from the coolest sites in the South West that produce the most vibrant Sauvignon Blanc. The aromas demonstrate lively tropical fruits with grassy herbaceousness and gooseberry notes, combine with a palate of fine structure and a long citrus finish.

This wine style is crafted to be enjoyed in its youth as an aperitif or to accompany fresh seafood and Asian cuisine. Secondary characters will start to develop after 18 months and will continue to add complexity to this wine for at least 3 years.

    Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Region: 67% Great Southern, 33% Margaret River
    Technical Notes:

The blending process undertaken to craft Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc focuses on the contribution of regionally, varietal fruit characters to build layers of flavour, structure and texture in the wine.

Mount Barker provides flavours of stone fruit, gooseberry and a refined acidity: Margaret River, palate weight and classic varietal characters of lemon /lime citrus and guava with perfumed hints of elder flower, sweet herbs and black currant.

Only the finely structured free run juice is used to make Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc.

The majority of vineyard batches are cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to maintain their regional character and delicate fruit flavours. Select batches are barrel fermented to add complexity, texture and richness to the palate.

    Tasting Notes:

The wine colour is a limpid green and the fragrant nose of freshly rubbed sweet herbs, guava, passion fruit and lime zest has an ethereal, estery presence. Juicy yet fine, the palate has lingering stone fruit richness, fresh citrus and a crisp mineral acidity to finish.

    Cellaring Notes:

A fresh and vibrant aperitif style when young yet the abundant fruit and fine structure will allow the wine to evolve in flavour, structure and complexity over the next few years.
