2011 Howard Park Miamup Sauvignon Blanc Semillon Reviews

This combines Sauvignon Blanc from the cool southern end of Margaret River and Semillon from the somewhat warmer centre; the varieties mesh well, Semillon providing the framework of grass, herb and mineral, Sauvignon Blanc the swell of tropical fruit that fills the mid- and back-palate. Drink to 2014.

Complex, showing pronounced oak on the nose. Although there's plenty of fruit flavour, the oak dominates.

A new wine for this company, which is fertile ground for new labels. Bright-yellow hue; cashew and almond aromas with citrus and herbal background. A savoury, dry, layered and textured palate that offers far more than just simplistic fruit. Food-friendly.

Cut grass, lemon blossom and passionfruit aromas are a welcome greeting from Margaret River white blends. The palate is finely wrought, linear and clean with faint tropical fruits. Solid.

While this is soft, dense and long it is still youthfully restrained. This is a fully flavoured, long and dry, serious food wine. It shows the life of quality cool area fruit from the south of the region and the lingering complex middle-palate textures and flavours...lightly oaked and more complex than most, this is the style where the buzz or interest is among the wine lovers and reviewers of this blend...this release will be amongst 2011's very few finest...and most drinkable. Lovely now, this will relax even more by 2012 and even into 2013.
