2008 Howard Park Chardonnay Reviews

Rich yet refined and elegant style - very appealing with its toasty development in harmony with the lifted minerally fruit.

, Winestate Magazine - 01-03-2012

A resinous, almost leathery aroma emerged first, changing with aeration to show tight citrus fruit with a chicken stock complexity, while the palate is rounder and softer than expected from this maker. It's intense and lively.

Blended from grapes grown at Margaret River and Denmark, in Western Australia's south, this is a complex, satisfying wine. Stone fruit, citrus, almond and subtle oak aromas combine to introduce a smooth palate that offers ample richness and weight, yet with a zesty tang to keep it fresh. The finish is long and fine.

...displays appealing tropical, pineapple tart and passion fruit aromas, with hints of cedar and toasted croissant. Medium bodied, there's good concentration and balance in the mouth with medium to high acidity, a nice bit of texture and a long finish.

Bright straw-green; charged with stone fruit, melon and citrus flavours; barrel ferment inputs are also very much part of the wine. To 2016.

Mature, nutty/savoury/creamy/cashew nose. Solid fruit/toasty oak flavours good underlying tight lemony acid. Lovely style.

Very pure fruit with distinct pear which builds on its strength of fruit acidity and quality flavour to deliver a long generous wine that can age well and slowly, with nutty savoury brioche flavours in about 6 years.

A most sophisticated chardonnay from largely Great Southern fruit. The complex mix of grapefruit and cereal with spicy vanillin oak is immediately enticing. The palate has depth and power with real length and persistence. This is a high class chardonnay of richness, power and texture. Cellar 6 years.
