2000 Howard Park Leston Shiraz Reviews

Mouthstaining and sweet as a Port when first poured, this takes its time to evolve past that initial sweetness to take its shape as a potentially great wine. From a big, unformed gob of fruit, huge and bold, this begins to seem less sweet, more structured, long and fragrant with black pepper and black currant. A robust wine to decant for steak with caramelized onions, or to age and enjoy when it?s mellowed.

A new release for Howard Park, matured in new and one year old French oak barriques for 18 months.Medium red-purple; the bouquet offers a mix of mint, red berry and leaf, attesting to a moderately cool climate; the palate is sweetened up with nice oak, and taken more into the mainstream quality style.

A subtle wine with excellent balance and high acidity. Nice floral nose with a touch of oak. Rich concentration of flavours on the palate.

Bright crimson-purple with plums, chocolate and nutmeg spice on what is an intriguing nose? throughout maintains an elegant, comfortable charm.
