2000 Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Reviews

This is 100% cabernet, making it the first not to include merlot and/or cabernet franc since 1988. Also, for the first time, the wine, which has always been a blend of regions, is predominantly from Margaret River, with the remaining 24% coming from the Great Southern region. It's also the best Howard Park cabernet I've tasted for a few vintages: really intense, dense, varietal (superbly concentrated cassis), and with firm structure, length of flavour and finesse to see it age comfortably for a decade or two. Serious cabernet.

Follows the outstanding and memorable '99 and is only the third straight cabernet under this label. About three quarters of the fruit is sourced from Margaret River and the remainder from the Great Southern. .....this has all the rich varietal fruit density and fleshiness that marks Margaret River. Stylish and elegant with an interesting berry and light mint mix. A super wine
