1999 Howard Park Chardonnay Reviews

A Great Southern/Margaret River blend, this Western Australian chardonnay has juicy, tropical fruit and regional aromas with well-integrated butter-cream touches. It's still a wine of restraint, though, and fruit and oak share the stage in great harmony. The medium-bodied palate is smooth and persistent with a firm, dry finish.

This medium to full-bodied dry white contains a wonderful array of complex flavours. Legendary West Australian winemaker John Wade made Howard Park one of Australia's great boutique brands, and successor Michael Kerrigan hasn't missed a beat since taking over

An example of where the best modern Australian chardonnays are heading. Tight and delicate yet with great flavour persistence. Complex mix of savoury subtle toastiness on the nose with little hints of stone fruit. Palate sings with a sprightly acidity which sustains the lovely mineral, citrus and flinty flavours. The best yet. Drink now to 2006.
