1995 Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Tasting Notes

Composition: 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
Region: 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
Technical Notes:

Extended skin contact post fermentation 26 days. Maturation in 100% new French oak barriques (Seguin-Moreau) for 24 months.

Tasting Notes:

An entirely different growing season gave a wine of very different personality to the celebrated 1994 release. The Merlot ripened perfectly and gives a supple influence to the structure of the 1995 release. A deep scarlet/purple colour relays the richness of the wine. Fresh, fine chocolate aromatics with a background of vanillin and coffee nuanced oak. The palate is deeply flavoured with supple tannins and full of black plums and Christmas cake flavours. A versatile wine which can be appreciated now or will cellar for five to ten years.

Cellaring Notes:

Current Rating: 3.5 Stars
Drinking Window: Now to 2008
